The
issued patents cover innovative hand hold designs for use on artificial
rock climbing walls. The first patent, entitled “Climbing
Wall Assembly,” is for Double Mounted Hand Holds that enable climbing
on both sides of a freestanding climbing wall. The unique design features
hand holds that attach to each other through a single mounting hole.
The second patent entitled, "Climbing Wall Route Setting Assembly
and Process," protects the Traverse Wall Route-Setting Guide and Route-Setting
Hand Holds. The guide features route maps and instructions for setting
climbing routes on a traverse wall using the Route-Setting Hand Holds.
Each Route-Setting Hand Hold is stamped with a letter, number and arrow
which designate the position and direction of the hold on a climbing wall
panel. The guide assists the instructor in creating a variety of climbing
routes of varying difficulty levels by installing the holds in specific
places according to the guide.
“We’re always looking for ways to help the end user of our
products. The Route-Setting Hand Holds and guide facilitate the creation
of different routes on the climbing wall. It helps instructors create climbing
routes to engage children of varying ability levels. Having a variety of
routes also helps keep the climbing wall fresh and interesting,” said
Tim Sudeith, General Manager of Everlast Climbing Industries. “We
are excited to have this patent awarded. This product is incorporated into
almost all of our climbing walls.”
